In May 2016, the HOOP project started when an empty shipping container was dropped off at Hopewell UMC.  The container was renovated mainly on weekends throughout the summer to turn the container into a kitchen and meeting room.

In August, the container was packed full with kitchen cabinets, flooring, kitchen countertops, tables, file cabinets, carpet squares, office chairs, and donations.

The donations that were collected over the summer include first aid supplies, underwear, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, school supplies, office supplies, etc.  Thank you to everyone that donated to this project!

On Thursday, October 6th the HOOP left Hopewell United Methodist Church to begin traveling to its final destination at the Mosaic Community Center in Wellington, South Africa.

Make sure you visit Mosaic’s website in December to see pictures of the HOOP after it arrives in South Africa!
